How Cambridge Papers Are Named
IGCSE file names follow the same pattern as O Level: 0620_s23_qp_42 means syllabus 0620, May/June 2023, question paper, paper 4 variant 2. Many IGCSE syllabuses have Core and Extended tiers, and the paper number shows which tier a paper belongs to.
How Cambridge IGCSE Is Assessed
Subjects are assessed by written papers, often with a choice between Core and Extended tiers, and some include practical assessment or coursework. The syllabus lists the papers for each tier.
Cambridge IGCSE is examined in the May/June and October/November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE has January, May/June and October/November series for many subjects.

Cambridge IGCSE Past Papers

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Core and Extended papers?
In many IGCSE subjects the school enters a student for either Core or Extended. Extended covers more content and allows higher grades. Ask your teacher which tier you are entered for.
How is IGCSE different from O Level?
Both are Cambridge qualifications at the same stage, with different syllabuses and, in some subjects, different content and grading. Your school decides which one you take.
Where do I find the right past papers?
Use the syllabus code and the paper numbers for your tier. Our past-paper library lists papers by code so that you can find the right ones.
