ECAT Tutors: UET Syllabus, 100-MCQ Format, Fall 2026 Dates and a 12-Week Plan
ECAT tutors help FSc, A Level and DAE students revise Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English at intermediate level, and practise them as timed multiple-choice questions. This page explains the ECAT format and subject combinations, the Fall 2026 dates, a 12-week plan and how to request a tutor from Trinity Tutors.
A tutor cannot know the questions of a particular sitting and cannot promise a score or a place. What a tutor can do is teach the content, build speed and accuracy, and show where marks are being lost. The facts below were read on the ECAT and admission pages of UET Lahore on 15 October 2026, and each section links to the official page so you can check it again.

What Is the ECAT?
The Engineering College Admission Test, called the ECAT, is a combined entrance test for engineering admissions in Punjab. UET Lahore says it has conducted the test since 1999 under Government of Punjab directives, and that the Pakistan Engineering Council requires it for undergraduate engineering admission. See the official ECAT page.
UET also says that taking the test does not by itself give a right to apply to Punjab engineering institutions. Read the admission rules of each institution you want to apply to.
A candidate may sit the test more than once, and only the best score counts toward merit. A score is valid for the admission semester it was taken for, so plan each attempt with the intake in mind.
No approved tutor is listed for this exact search right now. Send us a request and we will say honestly whether we can help; we do not promise a match.
ECAT Syllabus and Subject Combinations
UET's admission FAQ says the test covers the entire syllabus of Intermediate, A Level or DAE, without any shortening. The subject sets below are copied from the ECAT page.
English is always tested. The other subjects depend on the combination you choose, and the questions are split equally among them.
| Combination | Subjects | Usually taken by |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English | Pre-Engineering students |
| 2 | Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, English | ICS students |
| 3 | Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, English | Statistics and computing routes |
| 4 | Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English | Pre-Medical students |
| 5 | Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, English | Statistics and physics routes |
ECAT Mathematics: areas to revise
Work through the Intermediate Mathematics course in textbook order, then drill mixed sets so that you choose the right method quickly.
- Algebra, quadratic equations, sequences and series
- Trigonometry and its identities
- Coordinate geometry and conic sections
- Functions, limits, differentiation and integration
ECAT Physics and Chemistry: areas to revise
Both papers pair a concept with a short calculation, so practise units and estimation as well as formulas.
- Physics: mechanics, waves, electricity, magnetism and modern physics
- Chemistry: atomic structure, bonding, equilibrium, thermochemistry and organic reactions
- Quick estimation, so that you can reject answer options that are clearly wrong
ECAT English and the optional third science
The English part is a comprehension passage. If you choose Computer Science or Statistics, give it the same share of time as Chemistry would receive.
- English: reading a passage and answering questions on its meaning
- Computer Science: programming concepts, data and logic at intermediate level
- Statistics: data, probability and distributions at intermediate level
ECAT Format, Marking and Merit
UET's admission FAQ gives the pattern: 100 multiple-choice questions in 100 minutes. Ten are English, and the remaining 90 are shared equally among the other subjects of your combination, so a candidate meets 30 questions in each.
Each correct answer earns 4 marks, so the maximum is 400, and an unanswered question earns nothing. UET says there is no negative marking in the ECAT.
Merit is calculated from the First Year (Part I) Intermediate marks together with the ECAT score. The formula is on the UET admission portal, so read it there before you calculate your own aggregate.
- 100 MCQs in 100 minutes, fully automated.
- 10 English questions and 30 in each of the other three subjects.
- 4 marks for a correct answer, with a maximum of 400 and no negative marking.
- Best score across attempts counts toward merit.
ECAT Fall 2026 Dates and Registration
UET announced ECAT registration for Fall 2026 on its news page, and applications were submitted online at ecat.uet.edu.pk. The notice says appearance in the ECAT is mandatory for admission. The dates below are as published, read on 15 October 2026.
| Step | Date | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Registration announced | 25 February 2026 | UET news page |
| Last date to apply (that round) | 22 March 2026 | As stated in the announcement |
| Phase-II test | Held in June 2026 | UET reported it as held across Punjab on 23 June 2026 |
What about the next ECAT?
We have not seen the schedule for the next intake. UET publishes it on the ECAT site, so check there and note that a score is valid only for the semester it was taken for.
How ECAT Tutors Help
Good ECAT tutors work from the Intermediate textbook and your own weak topics, not from a fixed script. Lessons usually combine these parts:
- A first lesson that checks Part I marks, recent mock results and your subject combination.
- Topic-by-topic revision of Mathematics and Physics first, since they usually need the most practice.
- Short timed sets of MCQs to build speed without losing accuracy.
- Comprehension practice for the ten English questions.
- A mistake log that sorts errors into content, method, careless and time.
A 12-Week ECAT Study Plan
This is a sample plan to discuss with your tutor, not an official schedule. Adjust it to your test date and your school year.
Weeks 1 to 4: rebuild the content
Revise every chapter of your three main subjects. Because there is no negative marking, practise answering every question, but first learn the content properly.
Weeks 5 to 8: add speed
Practise sets of 25 questions in 25 minutes, matching the pace of the real test, at about one minute per question.
Weeks 9 to 11: full-length mocks
Sit complete 100-question mocks in 100 minutes. Review each one the next day and repeat the topics where marks were lost.
Week 12: polish and rest
Revise formulas and definitions, keep the final two days light and plan your travel to the test centre.
Common Mistakes That Cost Marks in the ECAT
These are patterns that ECAT tutors describe often. Your tutor can tell which of them applies to you.
- Spending three minutes on one question when the pace is one minute each.
- Leaving questions blank, although there is no negative marking.
- Studying only Part II content when merit also uses Part I marks.
- Neglecting the English passage because it has only ten questions.
- Missing a registration deadline while waiting for results.
How to Choose an ECAT Tutor
Tutors on this site list the subjects and levels they teach, and our team approves a profile before it appears. What each tutor offers, where and at what fee differs, so read the profile and ask about a short trial lesson before you book.
Lessons can be online, or at your home in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore where a tutor is approved there. Our A Level online tutors page explains how online lessons work. Compare tutors with these questions:
- Do the ECAT tutors you shortlist teach your combination, and how do they use timed practice?
- Can they cover English comprehension as well as the science subjects?
- How often do they share progress, and can they adjust the plan when dates change?
- Do they offer a short trial lesson, and what are the fee and schedule?
