MDCAT Tutors: Syllabus, 180-MCQ Format, 2026 Dates and a 16-Week Plan
MDCAT tutors help FSc Pre-Medical and A Level students revise Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and logical reasoning, and practise them as timed multiple-choice questions. This page sets out the subject weightage, the test format, the 2026 dates PMDC published, a 16-week plan and how to request a tutor from Trinity Tutors.
A tutor cannot know the questions of a particular sitting and cannot promise a score or a place. What a tutor can do is teach the content, build speed and accuracy, and show where marks are being lost.
The facts below were read on the website of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on 15 October 2026, and each section links to the official document so you can check it again.

What Is the MDCAT?
The Medical and Dental College Admission Test, called the MDCAT, is the entry test for MBBS and BDS programmes in Pakistan. It is run under the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, and a candidate's result is used by medical and dental colleges when they build their merit lists.
PMDC states that the MDCAT curriculum of 2025 applies to MDCAT-2026, so the syllabus did not change between the two years. You can read the notice on the PMDC date announcement.
A student who wants a place needs more than the test: colleges also look at the board marks of the qualifying examination. Read each college's admission policy before you plan your year.
No approved tutor is listed for this exact search right now. Send us a request and we will say honestly whether we can help; we do not promise a match.
MDCAT Syllabus and Subject Weightage
PMDC publishes one uniform curriculum for the test. The weightage below is taken from the official MDCAT curriculum.pdf), read on 15 October 2026.
Biology carries almost half the paper, so it is where most revision time should go, followed by Chemistry and Physics.
| Subject | Weightage | MCQs |
|---|---|---|
| Biology | 45% | 81 |
| Chemistry | 25% | 45 |
| Physics | 20% | 36 |
| English | 5% | 9 |
| Logical Reasoning | 5% | 9 |
| Total | Whole paper | 180 |
MDCAT Biology: areas to revise
With 81 questions, Biology rewards a clear memory of processes and terms, so revise every chapter of both FSc years and then practise mixed questions.
- Cell biology, biological molecules and enzymes
- Human physiology: digestion, circulation, respiration, nervous and hormonal control
- Genetics, inheritance and molecular biology
- Evolution, ecology and the diversity of living things
MDCAT Chemistry and Physics: areas to revise
Both papers mix recall with short calculations. Learn the definitions and reactions first, then drill numerical questions against the clock.
- Chemistry: atomic structure, bonding, equilibrium, thermochemistry and organic reactions
- Physics: mechanics, waves, electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics
- Units, significant figures and estimation in both subjects
MDCAT English and Logical Reasoning
Together these two parts carry nine questions each. They are the quickest marks to gain if you practise a little every day.
- English: vocabulary, grammar, sentence completion and short passages
- Logical reasoning: patterns, sequences, deductions and simple puzzles
MDCAT Format, Marking and Pass Marks
PMDC describes the test in its curriculum document. It is paper-based, with 180 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 3 hours, and it has no negative marking. The questions are planned as 15% easy, 70% moderate and 15% difficult.
The same document sets pass marks of 55% for admission to a medical college and 50% for a dental college. Passing does not by itself give a place, because seats are filled in order of merit.
- 180 MCQs in 3 hours, paper-based.
- No negative marking, so every question is worth attempting.
- Pass marks of 55% (medical) and 50% (dental) as stated by PMDC.
- Candidates take the test in their province or region of domicile.
MDCAT 2026 Dates and Registration
These dates were read on the PMDC notices on 15 October 2026. The registration notice is partly garbled in the copy we read, so confirm them on the registration notice and the PMDC website.
Test fees differ by centre and are given in the notice, so we do not repeat them here.
| Step | Date | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Online registration opens | 22 June 2026 | Normal fee |
| Normal registration closes | 8 July 2026 | As stated in the notice |
| Late registration closes | 13 July 2026 | Late fee applies |
| Original test date | 16 August 2026 | Later changed |
| Rescheduled test date | 20 September 2026 | PMDC rescheduling notice dated 6 August 2026 |
What about the next MDCAT?
We have not seen a published schedule for the next test. PMDC announces dates by public notice, so watch the PMDC site and read the rescheduling notice to see how a change is announced.
How MDCAT Tutors Help
Good MDCAT tutors work from your FSc textbooks and your own weak chapters, not from a fixed script. Lessons usually combine the following parts:
- A first lesson that checks FSc marks, mock results and which subject loses the most marks.
- Chapter-by-chapter revision of Biology first, then Chemistry and Physics.
- Short timed sets of MCQs to build speed without losing accuracy.
- Regular practice of English and logical reasoning, which are easy to neglect.
- A mistake log that sorts errors into knowledge, method, careless and time.
A 16-Week MDCAT Study Plan
This is a sample plan to discuss with your tutor, not an official schedule. Move weeks to fit your test date and your school timetable.
Weeks 1 to 6: rebuild the content
Cover Biology twice as fast as the others, since it carries the most questions. Do a short untimed set after each chapter and note every wrong answer.
Weeks 7 to 11: add speed
Move to mixed sets of 30 to 45 questions with a clock. Review mistakes the same day and return to the chapters that keep appearing.
Weeks 12 to 15: full-length mocks
Sit a 180-question mock in three hours, at the time of day of your real test. Spend the next day reviewing, not starting another paper.
Week 16: polish and rest
Revise definitions, reactions and formulas, repeat only the weakest topics and keep the last two days light.
Common Mistakes That Cost Marks in the MDCAT
These are patterns that MDCAT tutors describe often. Your tutor can tell which of them applies to you.
- Leaving Biology until last, although it carries the most questions.
- Reading summaries only and never practising questions under a clock.
- Skipping English and logical reasoning because they look easy.
- Spending too long on one hard question and leaving easy marks behind.
- Waiting for the date announcement before starting, then losing weeks.
How to Choose an MDCAT Tutor
Tutors on this site list the subjects and levels they teach, and our team approves a profile before it appears. What each tutor offers, where and at what fee differs, so read the profile and ask about a short trial lesson before you book.
Lessons can be online, or at your home in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore where a tutor is approved there. Our A Level online tutors page explains how online lessons work. Compare tutors with these questions:
- Do the MDCAT tutors you shortlist teach all five subjects, and how do they use timed practice?
- Do they know the PMDC curriculum, not only the school textbook?
- How often do they share progress, and can they change the plan if the date moves?
- Do they offer a short trial lesson, and what are the fee and schedule?

Yes, where a tutor is approved for it. Home lessons are arranged in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Can a tutor guarantee a medical college place?
No. Seats are filled on merit by the colleges and regulators. A tutor can teach the content, build speed and show where marks are lost, but cannot promise a score or a place.
