How to Use Past Papers Effectively

Past papers are the most useful revision material, but only when each one ends with a marked script and a list of things to fix. This is a simple routine.

Find the right paper

Check the syllabus code, the series and the paper number, and make sure they match your course. Our past-paper library lists papers by board and code, and its search can filter by year, session and document type.

Attempt it under test conditions

Use the time printed on the paper, work without notes and write in full. Stopping to look something up hides the gaps you are trying to find.

Mark it honestly

Use the mark scheme. Give marks only where the scheme allows them, and note the topics where marks were lost. If a mark scheme is not yet in the library, ask your teacher or check the board's website.

Keep an error log

Record each lost mark: the topic, the type of mistake and the correction. After a few papers, the same mistakes will show up, and those are the topics to revise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many past papers should I do?

Enough that timing is comfortable and mistakes stop repeating. Quality of review matters more than the number.

Are all papers available in your library?

No. We list only the files we have added, so check the board's website for the full set.

Should I do papers from older syllabuses?

Use them with care. Content changes between syllabus versions, so check that the topics match your syllabus.

Need a tutor?

Tell us the board, level and the topics that lose marks. We will say honestly whether we have a tutor; we do not promise grades.
